OEM Redistribution F.A.Q.
The Neoxen OEM program provides redistribution rights for customers
who wish to package and deliver Neoxen® Qwinux™.
Redistributing Neoxen® Qwinux™ enables you to gain competitive
advantage while using proven, existing technologies saving you a great
deal of time, money and effort.
Q: I want to provide Neoxen® Qwinux™ to other people within my
organization. Do I need to sign an agreement for that?
A: No. You are free to use
and redistribute Qwinux within your company - either one copy or
hundreds - without signing a specific redistribution agreement.
Q: Can I redistribute
Neoxen® Qwinux™ to people outside my organization?
A: Yes. This is classed as
either a non-commercial or commercial redistribution, and you must
obtain permission from Genestia Group, Inc. A non-commercial or
commercial redistribution occurs when you are supplying Qwinux to a
third party, who is not part of your organization. This could either
be as part of a product or service that you provide or as a separate
package to your clients or users who wish to use Qwinux. Simply
providing a link to an official Qwinux download site is not classed as
redistribution, and you do not need permission to establish such a
link.
Q: Can we include Qwinux
with our software, on a CD, DVD, or as part of a book?
A: Yes, but you must
receive written consent and sign a Redistribution Agreement with
Genestia Group, Inc prior to redistributing Qwinux outside your
organization. Redistribution requests are evaluated on an individual
basis, prior to providing our permission. To apply for redistribution,
please
contact us.
Q: What is the difference
between non-commercial and commercial redistribution?
A: Non-commercial
redistribution agreements are signed with entities that are focused on
not-for-profit redistribution. These agreements are in keeping with
the philosophy of providing the included software free to the
development community, as part of our commitment to open source. An
example of non-commercial redistribution is an educational institution
including Qwinux on a computing course resource CD.
Commercial redistribution
agreements occur when Qwinux is distributed via a third party
commercial software package, as part of a commercial service or
support package, or within a commercial publication. When Qwinux is
included in, or with, your software or services as part of a package
that you plan to sell or distribute for profit, it is classified as
commercial redistribution.
Qualification is determined
on a case-by-case basis. Please
contact us to discuss the terms of your redistribution.
Q: What is the cost of
redistributing Neoxen® Qwinux™?
A: The cost depends on how
you wish to redistribute Qwinux, the level of technical support we
provide, and your ability to work within our branding requirements.
Q: Is Neoxen® Qwinux™
available for free?
A: Yes, Qwinux is freely
distributable, unless you or your company is deriving revenue through
your use and distribution. Charges for commercial redistribution of
Qwinux reflect development time, as well as the commercial nature of
the agreement.
Q: What are the benefits
of redistributing Neoxen® Qwinux™?
A: You save time and effort
through not having to search for all the needed binaries and
documentation through the web or build and test your own binaries. It
is all done for you. You can provide everything your client needs in
one convenient, high quality set of installation packages, rather than
asking your client to do the work. By using Qwinux as your
distribution of choice you are assuring your clients of your
commitment to standards and quality.
